The LoompaOompas live for exactly 1000 years. They have very small families; there are always only the two parents and one child. All LoompaOompan familes stay in seclusion usually, and the children are educated by their parents. Usually, a LoompaOompan couple gives forth a child when they are around 250 years of age. Once a child reaches 130 years old, he or she is permitted to meet LoompaOompas from outside the family, but he or she cannot enter another's home. He or she also becomes responsible for hunting for his or her family. Every winter, the mating season comes, and all male LoompaOompas who have reached the age of 180 usually meet and fall in love with a female one. Upon the end of the first half of the season, the LoompaOompa couples head south to Amoryus, a special LoompaOompan retreat at the very edge of the forest, with the most sumptious underground homes. Those LoompaOompas that did not find mates run north in shame, screaming in a wrathful rampage, to Hainemes, a rocky, forbidding canyon at the other end of the forest. These LoompaOompas are treated as outcasts and deserters, and are never again seen to be anywhere but their horrifying new demesne.
